TULLLOW COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Tullow Community School with the assistance of The Parents’ Association held their 4th Annual Fun Run/Walk on Sunday 7th  October in association with Morgan’s Medical Hall.  Headquarters was;  Tullow Community School and the route was, once again; around the idyllic area of Ouragh, Rathglass, Crosslow and back into Tullow which runners said they greatly enjoyed.  The day of the race was a lovely calm autumn’s morning.

For the serious runner justrun events were there with their Chip and Pin whilst every participant could also be timed on the day.  The event was open to all abilities and ages and runners and walkers alike took part.

The hard working Committee, set the plans in motion for this event in August, regular meetings were held, and each committee member was given a job, therefore everything went very smoothly on the day.  Mr. Brian O’ Reilly; Head of the Sports Department & Ms. Smyth  PE teacher  in Tullow Community School were of invaluable assistance by encouraging all the students and teachers to participate in this event whilst also working very hard on the day.

Mr. Thornton, (Principal), teachers, students, parents, grandparents, past members and students, as well as other family members all took part.  Also included were many members of the different Sports  Athletic & Running Clubs in the surrounding area and their support is greatly appreciated.

Prizes were awarded on the day, to the first lady & gent, first male and female students, to mention but a few and to add to the spirit of the day there was even a competition for a student to beat Mr. O’Reilly, which he awards himself.

The Parents’ Association are most grateful to Morgan’s Medical Hall, Tullow (main sponsor) who has given such great support over the past four  years.  They also wish to thank those who donated prizes and helped in any way prior to or on the day of the event, to those who registered and those who took part in the race.  And also a sincere thanks to Mr. Paul Thornton and the staff for all their help and support.
