Tullow CS first year boys get off to a winning start

Tullow CS 7

GaelCholaiste Carlow 0

The first-year boys got off to a great start in the Carlow/Kilkenny u14 first year league. The rules of this competition are that you must be u14 and in first year and with over 32 boys turning out for trials with their year head Mr O’ Reilly the pressure was on the 16 picked to show they were worthy of their place, and they didn’t let themselves down with a dominating performance from start to finish. Tullow started fast and took the lead early on with Phoenix Mullins scoring after great play from Jack Corcoran. It took a while to get their second despite some great chances as the Irish school’s keeper made some great saves to frustrate the Tullow lads. The second finally came when great play from Freddie Gibson saw him beat two and cross for Jack Corcoran to smash home. It finished two nil at the break and Tullow were left scratching their heads as to how they hadn’t got more. The goals did go flying in the second half with Jack Corcoran scoring a great solo goal and Freddie Gibson smashing home a brilliant goal into the top corner from a very tight angle to get his rewards for a great game. Tullow made it five nil when a Freddie Gibson corner was headed home by centre back Brandon Delaney, there was still time for sub Kyle Doran to get on the scoresheet smashing home from close range after a scramble in the penalty box. Charlie Carey completed the scoring with a brilliant run past two defenders before smashing home from 15 yards to give Tullow a great start in the group.
