After 14 years away Tullow CS made their comeback to the school’s soccer scene with a bang. Fielding a team in the girl’s league for the first time since 2008 nobody was sure what to expect but the girls put on show with all 16 players playing their part in a great sporting game. The highlight of the game was Leah Mannion scoring five goals including a stunning free kick and a brilliant performance from Emily Lawlor in her first ever soccer game.

Tullow started the brightest and didn’t have to wait long to take the lead when Leah Mannion made a great run from midfield and smashed home into the bottom corner. Tullow were causing all sorts of problems with Grace Walker and Emily Lawlor causing havoc with their runs while Molly Maher Nolan and Allie McDonagh broke up every attack that Dunamase tried. With 15 minutes on the clock a great through ball from Leah Mannion found Emily Lawlor in space and her stunning shot from the edge of the box was smashed into the roof of the night to double Tullow’s lead Tullow were unlucky not to score more as strikers Mia Nolan and Ava Bolger were causing all sorts of trouble only for the visitor’s keeper to make some fine saves. The visitors pulled one back with a rare attack on the stoke of half time with a very good free kick from the edge of the box which Hannah Hutton almost saved.

The Second half was to be one sided with Leah Mannion running the show along with Grace Walker. It took just two minutes for Mannion to score when she went on a run and beat four players before smashing the ball past the keeper. Just three minutes later she had her hat trick with a stunning free kick from the edge of the box which went into the top corner. She added two more goals with great assists from winger Grace Walker who was running wild on the right wing. Emily Lawlor finished the scoring with a we’ll worked goal to round off a great team goal. This was a brilliant team performance with all the girls playing brilliant in what was for many their first every soccer game.
