Well done to 6th year Darren McDonald today, who recieved the first ever An Garda Siochana ‘Certificate of Exemplary Citizenship’ in the history of the Irish state. No person, young or old, has ever before been awarded this honour. Thank you to Elaine Rowe, the JLO for the Carlow/ Kilkenny region for nominating Darren & presenting the award. Thank you to the members of Carlow Lions Club who were in attendance today. They have been a wonderful suport to Darren since October. Thanks also to Deirdre & Bridget from St Laserian’s School in Carlow, to whom Darren presented a cheque for two thousand euro towards the purchase of a new wheelchair-accessible mini bus. Finally, thank you to all of you who have supported us financially and in spirit on this journey.
