Adult Night Classes - Autumn 2009
Enrolment – Wednesday, 23 September 7.30 pm -9 pm
Monday through Friday, 21 to 25 September, 10 am to 3 pm

ECDL 7 – 10 pm 20 weeks C. Rooney
This class is suitable for those who have a basic knowledge of computers. ECDL comprises seven modules and candidates must successfully complete an exam in each module in order to receive the licence. The course runs for three hours, one night per week for 20 weeks. The cost includes exam fees and skills cards. €500
Early Childhood Education-Fetac level 5 7.30-9.30 10 weeks M. Delahunty
This is one of the 8 modules required to complete a certificate in childcare and is a mandatory module. Students are required to complete two assignments related to play activity and a skills demonstration. €160
Interior Design 8-10 pm 8 weeks A. O’Brien
This course is designed to give students the skills and information they need to successfully transform their living space into a harmonious and tastefully decorated environment. Students will be taught through demonstration and visual stimulus, learning practical tips which they can apply in their homes. €100
Computers for Beginners 8-10 pm 8 weeks P. Glynn
This course is aimed at those who have little or no knowledge of computers. Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Internet are some of the areas covered. €100
Golf for Beginners/Improvers 8-9.30 pm 8 weeks A. Gilbert
Expert tuition by a golf professional. Students are taught the correct golf grip, stance and swing. Individual attention is provided in a relaxed atmosphere. A class at the practice ground is also included. €90
Occupational First Aid – Fetac level 5 7.30pm – 10 pm 10 weeks
This course will provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to provide first aid in the workplace. €180
Aromatherapy for Home Use 8 – 10 pm 3 weeks P. Walshe (Starts 7 Oct.)
What is aromatherapy and how does it work? Learn how to give a neck, shoulder and head tension massage; Learn how to give a hand massage; Learn how to make blends of essential oils to help combat common ailments such as colds, sore throats, PMT, etc. Please bring a bath towel and pillow. €50
Pottery 8 - 10 pm 8 weeks A. Corrigan
This course is for beginners and more experienced potters. Learn the basic techniques of hand-building with step by step projects. Materials included in cost. €120
Indian Head Massage 8 - 10 pm 3 weeks P. Walshe (Starts 4 Nov.)
Learn how to give a relaxing head massage to family and friends. This deeply relaxing treatment helps to relieve tension head ache, alleviate stress and anxiety, ease muscle tension, and improve circulation. Please bring a bath towel. €50
Water Colour Painting 8 – 10 pm 8 weeks J. Maher
This class is designed both to encourage the beginner and inspire the more experienced painter. The aim initially is to cover basic wash techniques for the benefit of those who have never used this medium before, progressing rapidly to simple landscapes and floral paintings. Also included will be the art of creating your own paintings from photographs and more advanced methods but above all the aim is to enjoy it! Materials not included. €100
Smart Sewing 8 - 10 pm 8 weeks T. Keogh
Beat the recession! Learn to sew and make your own clothes in a fun and supportive environment.
Materials not included. €100
Cooking with Paul 8 - 10 pm 8 weeks P. Fleming
Sit back, relax and enjoy the experience of letting someone else do the cooking! Paul is a qualified chef with 10 years experience in his profession. The course will be a mix of ethnic cooking including Italian, Japanese and Chinese along with traditional baking and cake decorating. €270
General Information/Conditions of Enrolment
- Fees are payable on enrolment and receipts will be issued. Where possible, soc. welfare and disability recipients will be charged half fee.
- All participants must enrol before attending classes.
- Class fees are non-refundable unless a course does not commence due to insufficient numbers or tutor being unavailable. In such cases, participants will be notified and fees refunded by cheque only.
- Enrolments: by post or in person at the office. Please use postal enrolment form attached and do not send cash by post.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited by law in any part of the school building.
- Responsibility cannot be accepted for loss of, or damage to, the property of students and their vehicles on the school grounds.
- It is the right of the Board of Management not to allow applicants to participate in particular courses if deemed necessary.
- We welcome requests for classes not listed.
- Tea/coffee break is provided free of charge.
- Students under 16 years are not allowed into evening courses except by prior approval of the Principal or Course Organiser.
