Tullow Community School v’ Wicklow town

Leinster Vocational Schools Division A Round 1    Monday 16th November 2009

Tullow had an excellent start to their season in a very high scoring game. After a very wet weekend, an early inspection gave the go ahead for this game. The sun appeared today and it was breezy but fine for the game.

Jack Kennedy opened the scoring today with a brilliant goal rifled to the back of the net after just a few minutes, this was followed up by a point from Paddy Hickey, and two more from Jack Kennedy. Wicklow opened the scoring after 15 minutes from a free. Wicklow only scored two more points in the first half.  Throughout the remainder of the first half Tullow went on a scoring spree and totally dominated with points from Brendan Fanning, Stephen Smith, Mickey Byrne, Jack Kennedy and a well taken goal from a tight angle from Donal Kelly leaving the score at the break 2-10 to 0-3.

Wicklow faught back at the start of the second half as expected and took some great scores from play. Tullow defence was under intense pressure for the first 15 minutes of the second half, Wicklow had many scores, a penalty was awarded to Wicklow and was scored well. Tullow hadn’t finished their great display with a further 2-3 added in the second half. The game finished scrappy with two injury time points from Wicklow but Tullow won comfortably in the end by 9 points. Final Score Tullow 4-15 Wicklow 2-12

Tullow were on the attack today at speed. Their were great individual performances from all the Tullow players today especially by Jack Kennedy, Stephen Smith, Alan Doyle, Paddy McCall, Eric Molloy and Mickey Byrne.
