The students from Tullow Community School got a great welcome in this Play to Stay initiative at the new state of the art facility, the national games development centre.

The Sam McGuire just four days after Dublin lifted it for the three in a row and the Liam McCarthy were there for the students to get up close and personal with.

The students arrived and were mixed with other students from 7 schools across the island of Ireland including St Mary’ Belfast, StGerald’s Castlebar, schools from Killarney, Mullingar and Pres De La Salle Bagnelstown.

The students played football for almost two hours withbreaks in between.
When the games finished thestudents lifted the Sam McGuire and the Liam McCarthy taking the opportunity to take photos. Following this the students went upstairs to a Q and A session.

Sky Sports attended with Journalist Damian Lawlor, All-Ireland winners Con O’Callaghan, Darren O’Sullivan and Carla Rowe (Dublin Ladies) were present as ambassadors. This was a great opportunity for all participants and teachers to ask the most influential players in our games the tough questions. The students had prepared 10 questions from each school.

The event was planned by the national cul campscoordinater Charles Harrison.

This was a great day out for the students, they got to keep their jersey from the day. All students thoroughly enjoyed the day.
